I have been experimenting a bit lately with some macro lenses and zoom lenses. The choice ended on a macro lens from Nikon. It not easy taking good pictures of miniatures. I hope this can make me a bit better. Also need to invest a little time in understanding more of the terms. I'd rather make miniatures though;) This little piece was made some time ago but it’s going in my Etsy store so here you have it "pasta chicken salad” (the small yellow bits are corn by the way)

I don’t remember who made the bowl. It is handmade and very nice.

A street vendor in Paris making crepes inspired me to make some in mini. Yesterday I had a Norwegian woman's magazine called Allers visiting me. We made a mini tutorial on how to make crepes. They took a lot of pictures of my minis as well. Will show you on a later date.

Back from Paris

So have had a nice couple of days with my youngest daughter June in Paris. We stayed at hotel Eiffel Seine that was so close to the tower we love so much. We have been on our feet walking a lot. Seen so many beautiful things and I am very inspired.

Happy new year to all dear friends. Hope your year will be filled with everything you hoped for. Today I had visit form a local newspaper called “Budstikka” in my studio. I will post later when article is published. Also wanted to let you know that I have started updating my Etsy shop. For now the Cupcake how to DVD only. I love making those little cakes. I think you would like it to if you haven't tried. Coming Friday I will be heading towards Paris with my camera and hope to get inspired to make more cakes. Any new places I should be checking out? I would love to have some tips.

I am in a rustic mood these days. Been making a cheese board with breads and figs. Also some sliced olives in jar. Now I have to do some Christmas shopping. Hopefully I will be plenty of time for miniatures after Christmas. I will appear in local newspaper just after new year. So will probably need these new miniatures for photos. After that it will be on my Etsy shop. Are you done with gifts yet?

I am in biscotti mood these days. I plan to make some in real size for family and friends too this C hristmas and I then got inspired to make them in miniature. These are with nuts and raisins and some dipped in chocolate. Think I have to make my self a cup of coffee…only missing are the biscotti's…hmm- Keeping myself inside today as it is very slippery on the roads. My postman is struggling with his car outside here as I write. Hope you all are safe and warm.

More pie..in movement

If you know me its all or nothing, full speed or slow. Same happens to blogging. Now I am on..

I have at least had fun making pie with a movement feature. I was thinking that a doll could hold the bowl in one hand and the spatula in the other…licking it, no just kidding. Anyway I always get so inspired when I watch the movie “Waitress” I have seen it about five times..It’s total eye candy and I always want pie afterwards and seldom or never get it. I made disposable pie dishes because I hadn't done that before. Fun I think. Hope you like it

New workroom in new house

Finally and long time overdue I am in our new home! I have now my workroom in a separate apartment but attached to the house. It is of course fabulous. Still not completely done though. I am not fully aware where I have put things just yet either, so a lot of my time is still on the “hmm wonder where I put that little thingy”;)

Been many, many times to Ikea. That’s where the white cabinets were bought. Same with my desk solution. It is simply kitchen cabinets with counters on top. That way I was able to make it just to my desire.

This area is sort of not done. I need to find a better and nicer display for my miniatures. It is sitting a bit low at the moment. Shelf is actually an old stair from a boat. I had it in my old house just not in my workroom.

My beautiful cabinet. I had this in my living room in my old house. I love it in here. Makes the room I think. Maybe not the most practical but nice it is…

This is a great having in my workroom: A kitchen. It is super to have a sink and of course an oven for my clay. Today I even used the freezer and put some clay that needed to firm up. Maybe a bit hard to see but I have painted the wall over the sink Laduree green. Had to have it somewhere. Lots of good storage here too. I just have some of my dollhouses here to inspire me. The others are in a guest room.

Just an overview. The rack I found in my old garage. It is cool and rusty just as I like it and I thought it could be a great space for magazines etc.

So this is where I sit. I have got a new or should I say old chair since the picture was taken. See ..I can have visitors as I have an extra chair too. Also I have my own bathroom. Such a luxury!

My workroom is located on the lower concrete part. Next year, in the spring it all will be completed with nice pillars and then we have to make a garden, and so much more. Hope you liked my little workroom tour. I love seeing other peoples workroom too. I find it very inspiring. Have a nice evening everyone. Yesterday I put my tree house up in my living room. I wanted to show you the size of the tree house. The mice are happy about the move from the basement and mummy mouse is busy making all sorts of foods for the holiday. ( Yes I know I am mad)Maybe you can see the small trees I put around the house. Think I will decorated it further when December comes. Not many days left now. Thanks for all comments on my giveaway by the way. You are all so sweet.

Turkey time:) I love making turkey and we usually have turkey at new years eve. So looking forward to it. In meantime I made this 1/12 scale turkey with stuffing, red grapes, kale, parsley and lemon. A fun change to all the sweets I have been making lately. Don't you want to just rip off a leg;)

Carb overdose

Time flies..and here I am giving you a big carb load for the weekend;) Breads in mini sure are fun to make. I can't say I have been too busy making miniatures lately either, though I would like to. I snapped these pictures today. Had to find the right position before the flash got off. In the middle of the day! The flash just doesn't give nice pictures I think. There is just not much light up here 60 degrees north these days but hey we know the drill by now;) We also have got a bit of snow, but most likely it will disappear just as quickly as it came. Sure there will be loads coming that will be staying too. My house is slowly progressing and there are many decisions being made. Currently we a making the foundation. Also have started packing some of my miniatures away for the move. I do think about how my new workroom will be. I defiantly need lots of storage solutions. A Norwegian miniature friend of mine made me this gorgeous chandelier for a swap we are having together. I just love it and I know I will find the perfect place for it. She doesn't have a blog but she is a talented crafter, scrap booker and a miniaturist. She is also Odin's mum that is a teenage boy that likes to make miniature food. He is very talented too. This used to be my backyard and now I am building a new house there!! I live in the white house you see on the picture and this will be sold and we will live in our new home eventually. Nothing wrong with the old one, lol I guess I just have a house developer in my stomach;) Hopefully it will be ready next summer. So I thought I occasionally could show you the progress of things. Very exiting and a lot of work involved building a new house. Just have to brush off the fear from my shoulder and think “it is after all almost like building a dollhouse, just larger in scale and with pipings”..:o) Lol we do have a contractor that does the work but still!!!!

Tutorial wash basin

Here you have a super easy tutorial for a little wash basin that will suit a beginner. Also great for those that likes to use things found around the house to make minis. From trash to treasures in a couple of hours..(including drying time;) There are of course lots of decorating opportunities for this. Go with your own style.

I used an oval shape ice cream sauce container. You can use a round of course too. Put an elastic hair band or similar around the bottle and mark a line or just saw it with the ribbon on. Use a fine saw for this.

Sand off any rough edges

Take a fat pen of some sort and bend wire around to from shape for handles and cut it off.

Glue them on with a white glue with some substance. Not a thin runny one for this. Be prepared to hold this in place for some minutes. Very boring I know;)

If you like to have a decorative band around the basin, just glue some ribbon on. The color doesn't matter as you will paint it later.

Tada..still looks pretty ugly but it does have some potential:)

Take your basin outside and spray paint it antique white. Give it a couple of rounds with the spray paint and let it dry in between. I did use oil based paint for this.

To make the rust I used Humbrol clear color number 22. Just dab a bit here and there.

On some places of the rust “sprinkle” on with a toothpick some black acrylic paint. Then you want this to dry completely before the next step.

Put on acrylic burnt umber antiquing medium with a brush all over the basin.

Wipe it off with a cloth. Not everything of course.

Fill it with flowers and enjoy

Lemon pies

Movie night and for the second time I watched this movie called "Waitress". It's a cute movie and gives a lot of really nice pictures of pies. I am just showing some lemon pies I made in miniature. Just plain lemon pies. A bit tart and sweet I would guess;), ... but if Kerri Russell's character would have mentioned it, I imagine it would be called something like "you light me up all day sunshine pie"

Laduree truck

I am being silly again...Just had this urge to make the Laduree truck. No particular scale. Or at least it is not 1/12. I made it for my little Laduree cabinet and it sits nicely among my boxes:)

Other than than I haven't made many minis lately. Still busy with redoing our house for sale. Oh and I have been thinking...The Laduree weeding cake from my previous post is for sale. Just not cheap!! I did use a little week to make it. If you are interested send me an email.

Laduree mini wedding cake

Here is what I have been up to the last days. It took me several days to make this little replica of the Laduree weeding cake. I will not be making many of these!! Hopefully I can figure out how to make a mold for the little couple as this is difficult to make because it is so tiny and has lots of details. For now this will have to go into my own dollhouse.

The movie Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola has been a huge inspiration to me. I watch it occasionally on my computer, never with husband in sight as he doesn't like it at all...Too much pink I guess;) For me this is the ultimate indulgent in color and style. Never mind that the story is a bit so and so. Do you like it?

The summer vacation is really present here where I live. Almost quiet and there are no traffic rush on the small roads. I like this silence. I know I like it for a while, then I would like to get things back to normal, and it usually does in the middle of August. I am sure a lot of you are on vacation too and I hope you have a great time. I have wanted to visit this shop for a while and we manage to do it this time. It is located near by Les Halles and are called E.Dehillerin. This is where the French chefs picks out their tools. I bought a couple of things, like a small very sharp tomato knife. Very handy to have.

Laduree cupcakes

I have been sneaking away....making cupcakes:) I couldn't resist trying to make Laduree cupcakes in 1/12 scale. It was a challenge but I do like that. Here are two cupcakes I replicated from the real ones I bough when visiting Paris. There are a couple more flavors that I am working on as well..cherry, pistachio and rose, raspberries:) The ones I made are lemon and chocolate, orange.

Better get outside and do some work on the garden. What do you think...Should I put some on Etsy..make more?

Laduree

So you didn't just think I went to Paris and not visiting Laduree or even documenting it did you...?

I actually managed to make two visits. One to my favorite Laduree located on Champs-Elysees and the new Laduree at Rue Bonaparte. We did have lunch and cakes twice, and I know I am spoiled rotten;)

Also had a great time inside the Rue Bonaparte as they had a shop devoted to candles, ribbons, books and ahhh so many beautiful things. I did bought myself a candle and once in a while I open the lid on the very beautiful box, close my eyes and I feel like I am back. It smells divine.

Here you have some pictures of our very much enjoyed lunches at Laduree. The new cupcakes were a hit around my table:) I have to make them in mini of course.

We always have hot cocoa. It is great paired with something savory. Like this Laduree club sandwich.

The new cupcakes:)) Chocolate and lemon. Surprisingly I liked the lemon the most. Don't you just love the design..I ask myself…”why do I do this for free”..;)

It almost start looking like a commercial...It is not. I am just a big fan!

Just a quick post from me as I am on vacation. I am not sure I can call it that as I am mostly staying at home trying to do some remodeling on our house that we will be selling next spring. We have finally started the first stage of building our new home next to the old, and our garden has some pretty large caterpillars in it;)…The yellow kind..lol

Anyway just wanted to show you some of my new cake design that I sold on Simp. Who knows when I get the time to make some new…

Flea market

Last Saturday, the day before the Simp fair was spent on the famous and very large antique market in Paris called Porte de Clignancourt. We arrived after breakfast and had a wonderful day walking around and looking at all the beautiful antiques. I would love to bring some home...but it just couldn't fit in my suitcase. I did managed to find some metal pieces that I think will be good as molds for marzipan and chocolate however. Miniatures and 1/12 scale of course.

I took some pictures while wandering around and lunch was spent nearby with my husband Ray, Synnøve and Hans. Very nice food and wine. It was a great afternoon. Followed by a very nice evening when we met Rosanna, Shabia, Sylvia and Roberta for dinner.

This stall had lots of doll parts and nick nacks. I really liked how it was displayed.

SIMP

Back home again from the Simp Fair and some lovely days in Paris. The city that always amazes me, no matter how many times I have been there before. I can now count five times and there will be more. Simp was great. It had a lot of visitors and so many nice customers. I appreciate that some of you came and said hello and also mentioned that you read my blog. I also got to meet...oh and I am so afraid I will forget anybody now: Sabina, Sylvia, Rosanna and Roberta. Thanks for all the beautiful gifts by the way:)

Also got to meet Emma from Paris miniatures (I LOVE her food) Stephanie, the cute French girl with the most amazing croissants. Genevieve I am glad to finally have met you:) Angie Scarr is also very nice to chat a bit with. Blondie creations, you are so sweet and I love my little thermos. Our husbands enjoyed each other companies I think;) Cilla from Minst. Yes the suede with the most amazing chandeliers and other nice things. ( your husband and my husband seemed to get along also;)

Veronique...oh what can I say I wanted to buy everything you made. I bought one thing and I love the piece. (I will show it in a later post) Muriel from LE COFFRE D'EMILIE. I think you had the most romantic display. I am happy to have found the metal pieces from you. I am sure they will do great as molds. Synnøve and Hans it was so nice hanging out with you. We enjoyed your company very much:)

Have you ever been to an Italian gelateria or an ice cream parlor? We did visit a fabulous place in San Gimignano, Italy and they had the best ice-cream..not just in our opinion;) but they had the diploma of making the worlds best ice-cream. I haven't forgotten the lovely swirls and the pale colors I love so much and it was also so nicely displayed on the counter. It was absolutely a feast for the eyes. I have tried to recreate the memory from that holiday and made my version of a gelateria in miniature. Maybe someone will "adopt" it while I am in Paris..You never know..If not I will put it on Etsy:)

Baking day with lots of breads on a kitchen counter. Someone has been busy baking. It is fun to experiment with texture, and color. Bread comes in so many shapes and sizes so the making will continue another day. Even the croissants was fun to make!

Tarte tatin

I was watching the Norwegian Masterchef on TV the other day and they made tarte tatin. I had never made it before so I wanted to give it a try. Inspiration comes from everywhere and sometimes out of the blue sky;) Below you see my attempts both in large life and in mini. Slightly burnt caramel on the large, but it didn't smell or taste burnt..(most important;) I used a good amount of apples for this dessert. Mini making and normal life very often go hand in hand, and it was a fun project. I hope the French people at Simp will like my "tarte tatin aux pommes". Very French dessert I have heard:) My family liked it but they diplomatically said that they would rather prefer apple cake...I must say I do agree. Have you made tarte tatin or tasted it before?

Here is what I have been up to the last couple of days. Decorating those tables is time consuming but also a lot of fun I think. The books I have got from Mercedes and they makes the scene so fun. Cheesecake tutorial

This tutorial have been an online workshop at cdhm, and you’ll find many tutorials on the member pages. Hope you will try it. It is great fun, and there are many filling possibilities if you don't want to use canes. You can make cherries or blueberries instead.

Materials you will need:

Polymer clay (I have used Fimo soft, but use whatever clay you are comfortable with)
Translucent
Beige
White
Yellow
Green
Red
Gloss varnish
Brush for varnish
Pigments or chalk in color ochre and burnt umber
Brush for pigments
Long cutting blade
Black tiny sand from railroad shop
Sandpaper medium coarse
Kemper rose cutter set. Using the smallest
Fruit canes ready made. Banana, strawberry and kiwi.
TLS
Pasta machine
Lid with small striped pattern. Top of glue bottle or Amorall.
Cocktail sticks
Talcum powder or cornstarch
Oven
Oven thermometer
Paper (parchment)
Tile or other work surface
Optional cake stand and plate

We will start to make the crust for the cheesecake. You might put on the oven so it is ready to go.

Mix 35%white, 35% translucent, 25% beige and 5% warm yellow. Put it trough pasta machine several times or kneed by hand. Last pass should be on nr 5 setting on pasta machine.
Cut out a round shape with the smallest rose cutter.
Take a new piece of the mixed clay about 7 cm long also pressed trough a pasta machine on nr 5 setting. Cut it to shape so it will fit around a lid with small striped pattern. (I am using the top of a Amorall spray bottle or similar). Dust the lid with talcum powder or cornstarch.
Press the clay strip firmly on to the lid to make good marks in the clay. Release and lay on flat surface.
With your long cutting blade cut it long enough to go around the circle.
Cut it about 5mm high.
Make a slant cut on one side.
Make wholes in the round shape with a cocktail stick.
Take TLS on a cocktail stick and lay it all around the circle.
Press the clay strip carefully onto the circle using the cocktail stick as guide.
When you meet the ends, cut the excess off making a slant cut in the opposite direction to the first.
Try to get a neat seam.
It’s not very important because this is where you will cut off your cake piece later.
Take your pigment brush and dust the pie shell with ochre first. If you want it to have some more brown spots, brush a bit with burnt umber as well.
Take some clay and make tiny crumbles that you bake along with the pie shell. This makes it so much more realistic at the end. Bake the pie shell and crumbs for 15 minutes on recommended temperature for the clay you are using. While this bakes we will make the filling and top decoration. Make sure your hands are clean.
Take a small piece of white clay and the same amount translucent. A 50/50 mix. You also need a tiny bit of warm yellow clay. Make sure it is tiny or it will overpower the mix. This is to simulate the egg yolk that’s in the cheese mix. Mix this well and put it aside.
Cut the canes for the top or gather them if already cut. You will need about 15 kiwis, 10 strawberries and 6 bananas. This will vary all on how you will lay it the on pie. Cut a bit more for extra safety.
Take the crust out of the oven and let it cool slightly. Make a ball of the cheese mix and press it into the pie shell. Make it almost full, but leaving a bit so there will be space for the fruits.
Brush some TLS on top of the cheese mix so the cane slices will stick.
Take a cocktail stick and dip it in TLS. Not too much, just a little. This will act as a tweaser or an extra hand of some sort. It will grip onto the cane slices. Start with the kiwis and lay it in an overlapping pattern all around the cake. Last kiwi slice you will tuck under the first to make it look pretty and perfect.
Use the cocktail stick and put on a bit of TLS on the lower end of the kiwis. This will make the strawberries stick more easily. This is a bit tedious.
Lay the strawberries in an overlapping pattern.
Put on a bit of TLS on the lower end of the strawberries.
Last circle is the bananas.
We will make a whole strawberry to put on top of the pie. Mix about 90% translucent with 10% red clay. Make a ball and shape it into a cone by rolling it in the palms of your hand. Lightly coat medium coarse sandpaper with black railroad sand. Roll/press the strawberry into the sandpaper. It might loose its shape, if so form it back to a cone. The sands simulate the little seeds on the strawberry.
Take a cocktail stick and press it into the top of the strawberry. Mix a tiny bit of translucent and green. Make two snakes.
Lay them crosswise
Press them into the hole in the berry. Carefully put it in on top of you fruits with a little TLS underneath.
I put a piece of parchment paper on top and bake it for about another 15 minutes. The reason I put the paper on top is that I think the canes will discolor less. This doesn’t have to be like this in your oven. Experiment!
Cut the pie where you made the ends meet when making the crust.
Varnish the fruits with gloss varnish. If you want to make the inside crust a bit browner, take some ochre pigment with a bit of the varnish and dab it on with a cocktail stick.

Display on plate and cake stand and if you want to, you can glue on the little crumbs for the extra touch of realism.

Saturday fair shopping

Spring has defiantly arrived here where I live. A sure sign is also all the fairs on the weekends. I went to one close by my home today and found these cute little statues. They are Swedish made and have a crown and sign N under. So of course I had to make a little scene to display them. A cake and also a tiny cupcake makes it very sweet I think. The lovely books are made by my dear friend Synnøve. They are so nice and I treasure them very much.

Tomorrow I will have a random drawing on my giveaway. It is not to late to join if you haven't already. Have a nice Saturday and I will stay outside doing some cleaning on my garden furniture's. They need it after a long winter.

Alice in Wonderland inspired

Yesterday I was at the movies and watched Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton. I loved it! The colors were so nice and inspiring. The mad hatters tea party got me in the mood to create a scene with miniature things I had at hand. Tables and chairs. Books and nick knacks. I also got the opportunity to display some of my teapots. After all this is a tea party and wouldn't be completed without it. If you like to make your own teapots and need some guidance I have several tutorials on my YouTube channel. If you know me I am also happy to show some of my baked goods. The mad hatter, Alice and the animals are not present. Mini Easter

Easter has now finally arrived and since this is a miniature blog I just had to show some mini Easter things too. Or at least what I love about Easter in mini. Chocolate and flowers! Just as every other holiday it arrives so quickly and I never seem to get anything up in my Etsy store before the holiday and now it is too late. Maybe next Easter..Lol:)

I am planning on doing some miniatures, be with my family and also work on my house. What are you up to this Easter?

A little Easter display

I love tulips and at springtime they are just at their best. These I made many years ago with polymer clay. Still fresh;)

Crocus are also a favorite spring flover of mine. I am looking forward to see them in my garden, until then I am enjoying it in miniature.

Chocolate hares in several sizes. Mmm wonder if I will get that in my Easter egg this year.

Almost Easter and I here I would like to show you some of my decorations. I use plaster figures that I have made from reproduction chocolate molds. Painted in light colors and dusted with vintage German glass glitter. The little ducks you see here are vintage and I found them at a flea market. They are so cheerful and bright. I have sculpted some of the figures using polymer clay.

These figures are sculpted with polymer clay and painted. Eggs are painted and decorated.

Working for Paris Simp fair

Busy, busy these days but wanted you to have a peek into what I am doing. I am having fun for sure but have to tell you I will not be making many of those flowers. It took me ages to do;)

I am very inspired and have lots of ideas but time will tell what I will be able to get done. So many others things in life as well. Today I have been doing some cleaning and will show you later some of my Easter decoration that I have made over the years. This is my "large" life I am talking about. Better start decorating soon as the Easter is so short. Until then I hope you enjoy my vintage inspired photos of my newly made minis. Finally some light outside so I could snap a few. My little dollhouse room

As promised here is my dollhouse room. This is just a little room in the basement. Nothing fancy but here I have most of my dollhouses. I also have some storage under the tables. I need to pack everything as we are moving. It will be about a year or so until our new house is finished but I do need to concentrate on working on our large house and also some upcoming fairs so I think I will be less visible here in blog land for a while. Though I do plan to have a giveaway when reaching a new round number. We will see if that happens;) Also thank you for the supportive comments to my readers.

New workroom pictures...again

I am not sure what has gone into me lately…Either it is the snow outside that makes me only think white, or a burst of energy that has struck me. I wanted the room to be white and airy. A canvas for all my stuff. So I have been painting almost everything I could find. The desk, the drawer, the counter, mirror and some small boxes too. Now I am wondering if I should paint the chandelier white also…?

I have another room with my dollhouses. I will show you that one later. I think I have managed to put up enough pictures here for now. This is where I sit and make my minis and talk to you.

My antique house, and another house that will have a French flair. Oh a lot to do with both!

My drawer that holds my clay and some inspirational things on top. Light and cheerful, dont you think?

Buttons and glitter always come in handy. Maybe not for miniatures but for other craft projects.

I am very fond of old boxes. My husband found these in our garage with nails in them as he was doing a clean up. Luckily he asked me if I wanted them before he trew them away!!. Of course I did. Can you see the old matches. I was thrilled!!…Sometimes I am easy to please;)

Some more nick nacks I have around. The beautiful card was bought in Florence some years ago. It was a beautiful city by the way.

The frame has chicken wire for displaying some inpsirational things, memories and cards.

This is the side of the room with least interest. I have a lot of storage here. Fabrics, packing materials, miniatures, and lots of papers.

This is also a relatively new found. It used to belong in our basement so I didn't have to go far to find it;) I love the industrial look to it. It has also great storage possibilities.

Crepes

These are some crepes I made about a year ago. I very much like to make things “in the making style”. It makes everything come more to live I think.

Been busy with my workroom. Be ready for a surprise in a couple of days. I have been up to something and lets just say I am in a white mood…must be all the snow I am surrounded by that makes me paint everything I see white;) Meanwhile enjoy the crepes or pancakes. Must be making this in real life some day too.

I have inherited an old wall clock from my grandmother. It has been in my hallway for several years. I had an idea to decorate the inside and I used some furnitures that were a bit out of scale for my dollhouses, so I put it in here. Maybe a clever mouse lives here, and just maybe he likes to fix old clocks, do a bit of gardening and read some books…just maybe;)

It’s a very subtle decor and you almost have to know about it before you see it. Part of the fun I think. Do you have a wall clock you can decorate?

Workroom cleaning

It was time again. To do the big clean up. I had no clue anymore what I had, what I needed and what I didn't need. I threw away a lot of junk and sorted out my minis in cute little containers. Now I feel so organized. I know from experience that it doesn't last long before I am back to the same old mess! So hence the pictures that I share with you.

I also got in an old drawer that I have filled with clay. I used to have the clay in cardboard boxes, but the clay is very heavy and the boxes weren't too sturdy so I had to come up with something else. Seems to be good for now. Also every time I do a big clean up I need to put something new in the room or change a bit. I am all about having the carrot in front of my nose so to speak;)

Hope you like my new workspace. Are you having a clean up these days?..It seems like it is a very sping thing to do:)

Chair tutorial

I found a cool tutorial on this site Design Sponge My first thought was to share it with all of my miniature friends. Lovers of miniature, France and Champagne of course. Now we have one more reason to drink more of the golden liquid;) The tutorial is made by Amy Merric. Enjoy:)

Below here you will see my attempt using the Champagne corks. I had a party here in my house on Friday and people kindly gave me the wire parts. Of course with a funny expression..”ehI heard that you collected these..!?” I have adapted the tutorial a bit to suit my taste. I used the lower part only and took a new part of wire that I bended and glued down to the seat for the back. The middle back part is made by cardboard and glued on also. Spray painted and aged to look like rust. Lavender French garden. Smells nice.

The soap is also made by me by the way. That is another hobby of mine. Making cold processed soaps. So much better than the store bought, but that is another story. Hope you like my chairs, and do try it. It was very fun.

Today my youngest daughter June were going to her prom, so I snapped this picture of her. I am so happy for her and of course I think she is beautiful:)

I love glitter

I love many things and one of those things is glitter. I love glitter on makeup, on ornaments and just about everything. I also get very exited walking outside in the evening when there is snow or frost on the ground. Everything looks so perfectly glittered. Musée d'Orsay

When visiting Paris last weekend me and my daughter spent a couple of hours at Musée d'Orsay. As a miniaturist I really liked the display of the Paris opera in miniature. I am not sure what scale this is but it is beautiful made. Vincent Van Gogh's paintings also really stood out here I think. I love the colors he used. Really spectacular. Well worth a visit.

Paris trip

Our favorites brought back to the hotel. Raspberry, lemon, vanilla, pistachio, chocolate and salted caramel. I also had a rose religieuse. My new favorite besides the macaroons. Oh and the hot chocolate is also very nice.

Back from Paris. My daughter Inez and I had a super time. We stayed at the hotel Napoleon. We went to Laduree, had rose champagne with framboise and it was heaven in a glass.
Of course we bought some cute boxes with macaroons too.
Sales at Lafayette and Printemps and just enjoying Paris for three days.

Oh my I have been a slow blogger lately. I guess I have been busy with the holidays;) So now it's for me time to say "Merry Christmas and Happy new year" to you all. A bit late but nevertheless;)
Also showing you here a cupboard or shelf maybe for a mini bathroom. I know the N is wrong, have to fix it, but you get the idea right?;)
It is so popular with letters in "large life" so why not in minis.
I am flying to Paris with my oldest daughter tomorrow morning and back home again on Sunday. I am almost jealous on myself..Lol. Looking so much forward to it. Sale in Paris just cant be wrong, can it?
We are also looking forward to a warmer climate. It has been insane cold here lately. Around -25 degrees Celsius in the morning. Brrr..Laduree and hot chocolate here I come. Yes I have my camera with me but don't promise anything. Tada:)

Carousel

I bought this carousel on eBay some time ago. It was brown and didn't have any decor on it except of the wonderful horses. So I painted it white with blue stripes on top, made some ornaments in clay and printed some pretty pictures on paper that I glued on. It is almost 1/12 scale I would say. I love it as a decoration all year round but it is quite festive now at Christmas time.

Macaroons

I really didn't think it was possible making these small macaroon delights in real life;) I have only been making them in polymer clay and in 1/12 scale. Now I have tried it and must say that they taste heavenly. Salted caramel macaroons. Also my favorite from Laduree. Sure there are small imperfections here and there but I will fix that in the next batch..Lol I made these for my husbands birthday tomorrow. That is if they will last that long. See under photos for the recipe I used. I also hope you all are having a great Christmas time and are not stressing too much...lol Who isn't these days I wonder:)

Decor on my table. Marie is inviting you on macaroons.

Macaroons

125 grams almond flour
225 grams powdered sugar
3 egg whites
25 grams of sugar
Pinch cream of tartar.
Preheat oven to 300 °F (I used 310°F to compensate for opening and closing the oven door).
Run the almond flour and powdered sugar through a food processor and sift twice.
Add the cream of tartar to the egg whites and beat at medium speed. Slowly add the granulated sugar and continue beating until the whites attain medium-peaks and are glossy.
Add your dry ingredients slowly to the meringue taking about six additions all in all. Pipe the batter to a diameter of an inch. And let rest for 30 minutes before baking.
Bake for about 11 minutes or until done, turning the sheets halfway through.

Salted caramel for macarons
1 cup sugar
3 ounces (6 tablespoons) salted butter
Additional pinch salt
1/2 cup heavy cream, at room temperature
Melt the sugar over medium heat in a saucepan where you can see the color. Whisk the sugar as it melts to ensure it heats evenly. When the sugar is a lovely dark copper color and you can smell that it smells adequately caramelized, turn off the heat, add the butter all at once, and stir it in. A couple of minutes drive from my home we have every Sunday a big antique fair. I usually spend some time there looking for goodies. I am not always lucky but today I really got something special. It is old jewelry parts from a jewelry factory in Norway, in Arendal. Dated back to the early 50ties. They are no longer in production. I bought the whole lot and as you see it will last me a lifetime. It is so useful to all kind of things. Of course I am thinking miniatures, making little lamps, cake trays or whatever I fancy. Could be used as jewelry parts too of course, but also for scrapbooking. I will most likely make little mixed bags of these gems and put some of it on my Etsy store. Hope you see the possibilities here too. Let me hear what you think:) These are bronze and brass parts, and can be painted or let them be as they are with the patina. Beautiful, and I am quite ecstatic about it. Just showing you a little part of the lot here. I also like the little vintage boxes. This made my day:) I just love any kind of treasure hunt. Flea market or antique fairs. It is equally fun:)
